God’s love is perfect. God’s love reaches far beyond what our earthly minds can even imagine or comprehend. God’s love transcends what we define as love. We, as humans are not capable of loving as purely as God, we may be loving people by nature, but it is not the same. We love based on feelings and emotions—which can change in an instance. Unlike us, God doesn’t cut off or withhold His love when someone disappoints or hurts Him, nor does He harbor unforgiveness in His heart. God’s love is unconditional, unchanging, merciful, steadfast, and everlasting. The bible is filled with many scriptures that are testaments of God’s love for His creation. Even in our own lives, we can recall many instances where God’s love is evident. The mere fact that He breathes the breath of life into us daily is an undeniable gift — a gift that is often taken for granted.
God loved us so much that He sent His only son to die a horrible death in our place……to save a world full of ungrateful sinners.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17 KJV
God’s love has power — the power to transform, heal, redeem, and set us free. But we must have an open heart and mind that is willing to let Him in. For it is because of His love for us that we are alive and well. His grace sustains us, and His mercy is keeping us from getting the punishment that we rightfully deserve. God still loves us even when we are being willfully disobedient, walk away from him, and turn our backs on him.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 KJV
As Christians, we should strive to love as God loves but also Love Him above all — with our whole hearts and with everything that is within us. We should use His love for us as an example to guide us in the ways that we should live and love others. When we are truly filled with His love, we will want to live for Him and by His Word. We will also be eager to share His gospel with others.
“A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye have love one to another.” John 13:34-35 KJV
God’s love is truly amazing! He loves us, not for who we are or what we have done, but because of Who He IS!
“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God, and every one that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.” 1 John 4:7-9 KJV
