Keep Your Focus on God

“And I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart."

Jeremiah 24:7 KJV

I read a quote that said, “What consumes your mind controls your life.” This is a very true statement. This world is filled with so many distractions. Distractions are designed to remove us from the path that God has set for us. Distractions are meant to hinder us and keep our minds preoccupied. We get so caught up in the things of this world that we forget all about God. Many are so attached to their cellphones that it is the first thing that they grab when they wake up in the morning - instead of Thanking God for allowing them to rise to see another day. We must be careful not to become so consumed with superficial things like…..our finances…...our appearances…...our hobbies…...our jobs…..or even being too intertwined in the lives of others.

When I feel overwhelmed or feel like I am being bombarded by the cares of this world, and my focus has shifted……I do a spiritual detox. I have to detach myself from everything and everyone, and just spend one on one time with God. And it works wonders for your spiritual health, as well as, your mental and physical wellbeing. I do it as often as need be.

In order for us to ensure that our focus stays on God, we must abide in Him and commune with Him. Our day must begin and end with Him. Our actions must be intentional. Read your bible. Set aside time for fellowship with Him. Surround yourself with positive people – encourage others or simply be willing to be a listening ear for someone else in need. Remove the distractions, toxic people, addictions, and negative influences. Turn off the TV, video games, electronic devices, and social media.

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13 KJV

Do not let the distractions of this world keep you from hearing the voice of the Lord.

Stay in His will.
